Softlogic Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd has been in the education space for more than 15 years. Pioneering branded end user devices such as Desktops & Notebooks across K12 and Higher education, we have taken the initiative to digitally transform educational institutions across the island. As part of this journey, we have been able to successfully establish over 175 Smart Classrooms across the country which includes schools and state universities. A full-fledged model Smart Classroom has been implemented by our organization under the directives of the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka in 2018 at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya in Colombo to showcase what can be achieved through using technology effectively in a classroom environment and how it would transform education by providing outcomes.
Smart Classrooms are technology enhanced classrooms that foster opportunities for teaching and learning by integrating learning technology, such as computers, specialized software, audience response technology, assistive listening devices, networking, and audio/visual capabilities.
The modern technology would assist in-classroom sessions to be much more efficient and facilitate teachers & lecturers to effectively engage with different types of learners such as visual, verbal, aural, physical, logical, social and solitary.
Our comprehensive Smart Classroom solutions has helped many public and private sector educational institutions to rapidly adapt to the new ways of digital teaching /learning and our diverse range of solutions enables both teachers/lecturers & students to create & share concepts & lesson plans, record lessons and more via interactive devices, software and peripherals from globally recognized partners.
We believe that education should not be limited by time or place. Further to this, there are many areas within Sri Lanka which has limited access to technology or tools to facilitate the teaching and learning process. In order to overcome this challenge, we have introduced distance learning solutions in Sri Lanka partnering with internet service providers (ISP’s) which can assist educational institutes to connect to a session remotely (on demand/scheduled) to a centrally hosted location which will enable the users to discuss, communicate and share material just like being in a physical classroom environment. Students and staff alike can get creative and innovative learning experiences with our devices and software especially due to the pandemic to be able to continue their education while still respecting the need for social distancing.
Our distance learning solutions in Sri Lanka have evolved over the years and are now considered to be a best practice in delivering education to students.
The application of technology innovation is rapidly increasing in industries and educational institutions. This phenomenon has led to the emergence of Technology Enabled/Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) which emphasizes the use of various techniques and technologies. TEAL is a new learning format that combines educational content from a lecturer, simulation, and student’s experiences using technological tools to provide a rich collaborative learning experience for students.
This approach is used to provide academic professional development that brings innovation to the learning content, practically by using pedagogy, technology and classroom design. TEAL ensures the enhanced development of student’s knowledge and skills in order to produce quality skillful workers with adequate employability skills.
RFID technology can fully automate various transactions happening within a Campus. Students, teachers and staff can be provided with RFID smart cards for their attendance and access to various labs and library. Library systems can also be automated by using RFID which can include issuing of books, security gates, searching of books, etc. Assets like computers, electronic equipment and mechanical tools which are constantly on the go for student experiments can be tracked to improve their usage by various departments. Hostel can also be better managed with access control system installed for students.
